The rising social awareness continues reducing social curses like child marriage, dowry, polygamy and divorce, repression on women and children and human trafficking in recent times in northern Bangladesh. 

"Despite bite of social curses still prevails, the number of such incidents has reduced significantly following maximum emphasis put by the present government on conducting motivational works among the people everywhere," officials and experts said…

"We have stopped 383 child marriages and 87 hilla marriages, rescued 41 children from trafficking, rehabilitated 92 inhumanely tortured and violated women and children and provided legal aids to 335 tortured women and children since 2006," she added.
